Rohingya Muslims (Arakan) that have been the victims of various attacks and certain pressures since the abdication of the British in 1942; have started to be exposed to several attacks as a result of some provocations in the past June. Burning the villages, ravishing the houses, killing the young men, raping young girls, exiling the people from their hometowns have been facts of that regions throughout last year.
Arakan Muslims had to desperately shelter in Bangladesh as thousands of them have previously done but with the fact that Bangladesh government did not accept the refugees, the condition of the refugees have become even more dramatic.
Most of the Arakan people died on boats over Naf River while trying to escape to Bangladesh, the ones who could return were arrested by Myanmar soldiers and there has been no more news about them.
With the most optimist numbers, more than 1000 Arakan Muslims have died. Approximately 100.000 of them were exiled from their homes. It is thought that more than 10.000 lost Arakan people have been killed. The main reason of this massacre is Myanmar State.
Cansuyu Assistance and Cooperation Organization did its preparations after the incidents in June and reached to the Myanmar (Burma) border in July where there are Arakan refugee’s camps as well. Our team had to go via Bangladesh as Myanmar State does not allow the entrance to this area. It has been seen that more than 50000 unregistered Arakan refugees are trying to survive in very tough conditions in Kutubalong refugee camp. The donations taken from Turkey have been delivered to them and to our Muslim brothers that have escaped to Bangladesh and trying to survive in the urban areas in an illegal way.
Our organization has completed the dinner programs organization which will be used many people during the Ramadan.
As long as these problems continue in the region, the assistance of our organization will continue too.
