Cansuyu continues its distributions in Mogadishu the capital of Somali. The condition in Somali that has been fighting with drought in addition to the war is dramatic with one word. Our teams are staying in the hotels spared for the media members and assistance organizations. Cansuyu Istanbul Foreign Affairs Responsible Åžerafettin MollaoÄŸlu says that they cannot go to downtown without soldiers with them and that it was difficult to describe the situation there. MollaoÄŸlu says that the importance of the situations is visible starting from airport and that the bullet holes could be seen in almost each building which proves the gravity of the situation.
Our team makes meeting with the our partner organization Somali Muslim Youth Association authorizers and they do planning to be able to determine the worst places in Mogadishu and to bring assistance there. Even though there are security issues our teams continue their activities continuously.
Initially they have constructed 2 mobile kitchens. MollaoÄŸlu says: “Since the refugees could take nothing with them when they left their houses, they cannot cook anything in their tents constructed too simply. Therefore our priority is to distribute warm food. Our provision issues continued yet we are also trying to find a system that could let them cook their own food. We have made mobile kitchens which serves 2500 people with warm food every day. When it is dinner time we have very emotional scenes”.
There are severe health issues because of the famine. Our teams are working in cooperation with Mogadishu University Medicine Faculty and they obtain the required medication and bring them to the camps.
The families running to the camps could bring only their children and the children have nothing to war. Our teams have started to provide clothes for the children
MollaoÄŸlu said that they would continue their assistances during and after Ramadan and that they are very particular for delivering the donations entrusted to them.
